Being a Nurse during a Pandemic

Hi again,

I know it’s been awhile since i’ve written a blog post. And from the title I think it’s easy to tell why…life has been quite busy since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. It’s hard to put into words the stress I am feeling. As i’m sure most of you are feeling the same way. Whether or not you are a frontline worker…it’s a scary time.

I work in long term care. I’ve worked in the same home for over 3 years. These residents have become family. My number one priority is keeping my residents safe and healthy. As well as keeping my own family healthy.

Our nursing home and all other nursing homes are taking every precaution we can to make sure COVID-19 stays out. Our staff know not to come to work if they are sick. We are also taking the temperatures of every single staff member when they walk into the building. And sadly but for good reason, we are not letting any visitors in. Which includes family members….I know this precaution is tough on our residents. And for the family members I couldn’t imagine not being able to see my grandparents, mom/dad and/or which ever loved one is in a nursing home. I know they must miss them and feel quite scared right now. But I know they are thankful and understanding.

This blog post is quite short, but like I said above…it’s hard to put this all into words. As I believe this is just the beginning. I’m sure I will have more to say down the road but right now, I just want to keep COVID-19 out of my nursing home and away from my loved ones. Shout-out to my fellow nurses, doctors, PT, OT, grocery store workers and anyone who is an essential worker. We are so thankful for you and the work you are doing!

I’d also like to mention if you live with someone who is a frontline worker please take all the precautions necessary. If you have travelled recently DO NOT go out for at least two weeks, do not see anyone and have items dropped off to your front door. Wash your hands. And if you can…please stay home. Do not go visit anyone even if you think they are healthy, as some people with COVID-19 are asymptomatic.

Until next time✨

Stay healthy, xo

Why I started a blog

I thought I’d come on here and make a post about why I started a blog…or why it took me so long!!! I’ve always wanted to start one and I actually did at one point but then I deleted it.

I was hesitant for a few reasons…

  • I didn’t think anyone would read it
  • I didn’t have one particular thing to blog about
  • Didn’t want people to judge

Then I realized….Who cares????🤷🏼‍♀️
I mean, I hope people read it and enjoy (once I get the hang of it) but if not that’s fine to. I enjoy writing…plus I can force my friends, family and boyfriend to read it!

I still don’t know what I’m going to blog about. I do know it won’t be focused on one thing….probably a lot about my relationship (cause I just ❤️ him so much). But also about fashion and being a nurse. And hopefully all the travelling we do…so far one trip planned (which is in 9 days🥂☀️🍹). I also hope to write about my future move to the big city!!! But more on that later.

Until next time✨😘
