I know it’s been awhile since I’ve written a blog…and I’m pretty sure I said that last time. But I truly do want to be more consistent with my posts.
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during these tough times. I wanted to come on here and talk about health and fitness (I can hear my boyfriend laughing at me as I typed that). I say that because my boyfriend loves fitness…I mean he’s getting his PhD in exercise physiology….and I hate working out (they aren’t lying when they say opposites attract). I know I shouldn’t hate working out, as it’s good for my well-being, my anxiety, my heart etc, but i’ve never been able to get into it like a lot of other people.
Before the closure of my gym, my boyfriend would give me workouts to do. And I tried my best to follow but some days I just wasn’t motivated or I didn’t want to do the workout that he had suggested. This would frustrate my boyfriend because I would constantly ask for help but then I wouldn’t take his advise. Now that the gym has been closed for months I have been struggling even more. I do home workouts but don’t feel as motivated as I previously had been when I was able to go to the gym. Ryan has started running more and he has been encouraging me to start running as well. I’ve been on a handful of runs so far…and by runs I mean running then walking, running then walking. I am going to continue to run and see if I get better. I use nike run club to track how many kilometres I run. I will say beating my own records have been a motivating factor. My fastest 1K is 6 minutes and 22 seconds🏃🏽♀️…which may be slow but hey I’m proud.
Don’t get me wrong, I know health and fitness is more than just working out. I know that what I eat plays a HUGE role. But man, do I love food!!. I think I love anything that is not healthy for my body 🍕🍔🌭🍫🍭. In no way am I going to put myself on a certain diet. But I definitely want to incorporate more vegetables 🥒🥬, more fruit 🍎🍌and more protein into my lifestyle. As someone who doesn’t eat a lot of meat, I need to start eating other foods which are high in protein. A big issues I have is no self control, for example if the break room has free donuts 🍩 , 99% of the time I’m going to eat one. Treating yourself every once in a while isn’t the end of the world but sometimes it’s ok to say no. (basically what I’m saying is the break room has had too many free donuts lately😂)
I wanted to write about this to hold my self accountable. I am currently at my heaviest weight…I know a number on a scale shouldn’t matter but it motivates me. Am I obese in anyway? no. But am I unhappy with the way I look? Yes. I may even be slightly overweight for my height but not for long. As summer is approaching I decided to try my shorts on. They still fit but are far too tight for my liking. So this is the start for me. The start of a healthier lifestyle. The start of learning to love to workout. I can’t wait to see the changes to my body, inside and out.
I know it’s been awhile since i’ve written a blog post. And from the title I think it’s easy to tell why…life has been quite busy since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. It’s hard to put into words the stress I am feeling. As i’m sure most of you are feeling the same way. Whether or not you are a frontline worker…it’s a scary time.
I work in long term care. I’ve worked in the same home for over 3 years. These residents have become family. My number one priority is keeping my residents safe and healthy. As well as keeping my own family healthy.
Our nursing home and all other nursing homes are taking every precaution we can to make sure COVID-19 stays out. Our staff know not to come to work if they are sick. We are also taking the temperatures of every single staff member when they walk into the building. And sadly but for good reason, we are not letting any visitors in. Which includes family members….I know this precaution is tough on our residents. And for the family members I couldn’t imagine not being able to see my grandparents, mom/dad and/or which ever loved one is in a nursing home. I know they must miss them and feel quite scared right now. But I know they are thankful and understanding.
This blog post is quite short, but like I said above…it’s hard to put this all into words. As I believe this is just the beginning. I’m sure I will have more to say down the road but right now, I just want to keep COVID-19 out of my nursing home and away from my loved ones. Shout-out to my fellow nurses, doctors, PT, OT, grocery store workers and anyone who is an essential worker. We are so thankful for you and the work you are doing!
I’d also like to mention if you live with someone who is a frontline worker please take all the precautions necessary. If you have travelled recently DO NOT go out for at least two weeks, do not see anyone and have items dropped off to your front door. Wash your hands. And if you can…please stay home. Do not go visit anyone even if you think they are healthy, as some people with COVID-19 are asymptomatic.
I thought id make a blog post about how my boyfriend and I met, since I’ve already mentioned him a few times and I’m sure I will in the future!
How we met…just how everyone meets these days. You guessed it, tinder. It’s your classic tinderellastory. Long story short, I was in his city (Toronto) for a concert and we matched. We probably talked on tinder/texted for almost two months before we went on our first date. I was finally enjoying single life and didn’t want a boyfriend. And he had somewhat recently gotten out of a long-term relationship. We also lived about an hour and a half away from each other. Which yes, isn’t that far but I had done long distance in the past and I didn’t want another long distance relationship. But he was very nice and handsome so I agreed to a date (thank god)🙌🏼.
Our first date was August 25th, 2018. We went to the rec room, which is basically a giant arcade with alcohol. And clearly we hit it off, as you can see in the photo booth posted above. We got drunk and played a bunch of arcade games. And let me tell you, we are both very competitive. I realized very quickly that I wanted this man in my life. Distance didn’t matter…and luckily he felt the same way.
We have been inseparable ever since our first date. It wasn’t the traditional “will you be my girlfriend” story. It was more of a “we spend most of our free time together and we don’t want to date other people” type of thing. That’s why we decided our anniversary is august 25th aka out first date. We have been together for just over a year and a half. We continue to do long distance, but see each other every other weekend. And in just a few months we won’t be doing long distance anymore…but more on that later.
So there you have it. That’s how I met Ryan, my love, my best friend and one of the best people to come into my life. I feel very lucky and thankful to have him.
I wanted to make a blog and chat about my outfits from our vacation! I mean…for the most part I was wearing a bikini👙 but I have a few outfits from the evenings that I love, which I thought I’d share with all of you!
Dinner Outfit, number 1🥂
This dress was actually a winners find last year. For the longest time I had no where to wear it…I thought vacation was perfect! I paired it with all white adidas (which I’m obsessed with, by the way🤩)
Dinner Outfit, number 2
This dress is actually my sisters. She bought it at Forever 21, just before it closed. I don’t normally wear purple but I immediately fell in love with this dress. I paired it with wedges from Steve Madden✨
Dinner Outfit, number 3
Ah I loved this outfit😍. I was so excited to pack it because I knew it was the perfect vacation look. I am such a fan of backless shirts, especially if it has some sort of design! I got the shirt from garage and the pants from Forever 21! (so sad forever 21 is out of business)
Dinner Outfit, number 4
This is more of a casual look but I’m obsessed. As much as I love dressing up, I’m definitely causal 80% of the time. This is another shirt from garage, I’m loving this new trend of shirts tying up in the front! My jeans are also from garage. I don’t own a lot of ripped jeans and these jeans are a couple years old. But the perfect pair for vacation☀️.
Dinner Outfit, number 5
5th and final look (I had more outfits, but the 5 looks above were my favourite). This was another casual night. Wearing the same ripped jeans from garage. I got the top from Dynamite clothing. The top is cheetah print🐆, which I am currently obsessed with! Paired with non other than my all white adidas!!🤩 (ladies, I recommend getting a pair of your own).
Well those were some of my favourite looks from vacation. I can’t wait to write more blogs about fashion/my style! I hope you enjoyed seeing my outfits🤩
It’s been awhile…I know. My boyfriend and I were on a much needed vacation. We went to Mexico for 7 wonderful days☀️. We stayed at Barcelo Maya Riviera (adults only). The resort was beautiful, and very new….seriously it just opened in December. With the resort being new, it meant it wasn’t very busy and super clean (yay).
I guess this blog is my first review of something!!
SO…would I recommend this resort?? yes!! And i’ll list some of the pros and even the cons for you!
Adults only!! not that I have anything against kids but no crying/screaming and hello parents…you deserve a break!
It’s brand new…very clean and SO modern (aesthetically pleasing📸).
Four very large infinity pools and plenty of places to lay and tan.
The beach is less than a minute walk from the pools!!
Food from the buffet is amazing…aka so much fried food, chefs making fresh pasta, cheeseburgers and even sushi!!…(also fried mac and cheese balls…oh and a lot of queso) lets just say I gained some weight..but hey I was on vacation.
24/7 bar in the lobby🍹
Staff was very nice!!
Our room was beautiful, king sized bed and a jacuzzi tub on the balcony
The entertainment, not that it was awful but each show was very similar to one another. And since its a new building the space where they have the shows is also a convention centre, so it’s fully indoors. (I prefer the auditoriums that are outside).
The buffet only served breakfast and lunch (it was open from 8am to 6pm) so technically you could have an early dinner but after laying in the sun all day you need a nap before dinner. (They have 4 restaurants you can make reservations at, French, Mexican, Italian and Japanese)
Portion sizes at the restaurants…food was good (we didn’t try the french restaurant as we aren’t big fans of french food) but the portions we’re quite small…which is unfortunate when the buffet is closed. (They do have sandwiches in the 24/7 bar though, if you are really hungry). Which duh…I love me some food when I’ve have a few too many drinks.
There you have it, my first review on this blog!!! So yes, I would defiantly recommend the Barcelo Maya Riviera to friends, family and you guys! I’d say its on the more pricey side (1’500 + tax) but very worth it. If you are planning a vacation in the near future and have any questions on this place, don’t hesitate to ask!
Next blog will be our vacation style!! So stay tuned…
Hiya✨ I thought I’d come on here and make a post about why I started a blog…or why it took me so long!!! I’ve always wanted to start one and I actually did at one point but then I deleted it.
I was hesitant for a few reasons…
I didn’t think anyone would read it
I didn’t have one particular thing to blog about
Didn’t want people to judge
Then I realized….Who cares????🤷🏼♀️ I mean, I hope people read it and enjoy (once I get the hang of it) but if not that’s fine to. I enjoy writing…plus I can force my friends, family and boyfriend to read it!
I still don’t know what I’m going to blog about. I do know it won’t be focused on one thing….probably a lot about my relationship (cause I just ❤️ him so much). But also about fashion and being a nurse. And hopefully all the travelling we do…so far one trip planned (which is in 9 days🥂☀️🍹). I also hope to write about my future move to the big city!!! But more on that later.
